1. What made you know you were ready to start a podcast?
I wanted to reach more families and professionals who were seeing young children and their parents affected by trauma and attachment related problems. I am a learn as you go kind of person and this journey has thought me a lot!
2. What was going on in your business that made you realize that podcasting might be a good idea?
Unfortunately there is a lack of appropriately trained professionals who can assist families with attachment and trauma related problems. This became evident every time I met with a new family. I have a dream of reaching more professionals and parents and connecting them to one another through my podcast to help spread hope and healing to the children’s lives we touch.
3. Why did you choose the platform of podcasting over other options (e.g., blogging, video, etc)?
I prefer to speak vs. write. I do however do videos as well. Podcasting is fun to do because it allows me to be me and to be as creative (or not lol) as I want to be. I am more comfortable behind the mic than I am in front of the camera.
4. Tell us about your podcast and where the inspiration came from.
My podcast is the Parent-Child Relationship Podcast. The mission of my podcast is to connect and inform providers and parents who are on a quest to help kiddos affected by trauma and attachment related problems. I listen to many podcasts and when I searched for podcasts that relate to the parent child relationship affected by attachment and trauma problems – I came up with nothing! SO, I decided to change that! Since then I have found a couple of other colleagues who stated their podcasts within the last couple of months or so and I love seeing that community and awareness grow.
5. How did you decide to invest in Healthcasters?
I watched your free 1 hr webinar and I loved what the course had to offer.
6. What are 3 “wins” you’ve had personally and professionally as a result of launching your podcast?
Professional:
1. My sense of pride in what I do has increased ten fold – my confidence grew
2. My name is out there in the trauma and attachment world – I love seeing my podcast shared with others
3. My network has GROWN on many levels increasing my referrals and invites to present at different events.
Personal:
1. Sense of freedom and creativity spark
2. Excitement to do what I want to do
3. Self-growth
7. What’s been your most favorite part of being in the Healthcasters community?
The sense of genuine desire to help others and push each other to do our best work. The resources and the questions asked are priceless because most of the time – if I am being honest – I am not even thinking of asking a certain questions because I don’t know to ask it. The experiences of the other healthcaseters is an amazing tool for my own growth.
