Welcome! Today we are talking with Rebecca Jorgensen, who spends her time training other clinicians in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Rebecca became passionate about EFT after attending a training session and now travels all over the world teaching others. Join me for more from Rebecca!
Rebecca shares the following about EFT:
- She loves EFT because it focuses on emotion in relationships with systems and involves research and outcomes.
- Learning about EFT has helped her understand herself and her relationships.
- Learning about EFT has explained why she sometimes had difficulty helping couples in therapy.
- After her initial exposure to EFT, Rebecca started organizing peer consultation groups at her university.
- Rebecca has been teaching in some capacity since her teenage years, so teaching other clinicians has been a natural transition.
- Her biggest challenge in teaching has been when other therapists question or resist her teaching about EFT.
- Her goals in teaching are to be accessible, responsible, and engaged with the audience.
Rebecca gives advice to someone wanting to teach and train others:
- Identify a love you have that you can share with others.
- Practice, study, and take action.
- Find a way you can serve with your passion.
- Start small with workshops, groups, and presentations.
You can see that Rebecca has great information to share. I hope you’ll join me to learn more!
