Welcome! My guest today is Dr. Agnes Wainman, who is a super active member of the STC Facebook community. Recently she created a post that went viral with many likes and responses. Her post was about how her private practice has blossomed and changed drastically over the last year. Agnes is not afraid to be open and vulnerable about her journey and what she calls “the messy middle” of her story. Join us!
Agnes shares the following about her journey to a thriving private practice:
- People need to hear your genuine story, even if it has a “messy middle,” because we all have those times!
- Agnes was always focused on starting her private practice, even dating back to her days in grad school.
- She began her private practice with three false assumptions:
- Overconfidence about how it would work so easily!
- Too focused on the appearance rather than the content of her website
- Unclear about WHO her ideal client is
- Agnes came from a very general group practice, so she didn’t see the value of having a niche.
- She took a webinar about niche-ing and identified her ideal client as the “overwhelmed, worried woman.” Her sub-specialties are maternal mental health and infertility.
- One of the most helpful tools is a list she created to identify characteristics and qualities of her ideal client.
- This “list” became the foundation for her new website, practice, and blogposts—all of which led to more clients coming her way!
- Instead of relying on Google AdWords now, she promotes events on Facebook and spends very little on marketing.
- Agnes does weekly video blogs and uses her Youtube channel about self-care—all with her ideal client in mind.
- She is currently looking to outsource some tasks that will free up some of her time.
