Welcome to our ONE-YEAR Anniversary show! It’s so hard to believe we’ve been on this journey for a whole year now! Thanks for being a part of the STC family! Today’s guest is a good friend, Jackie Flynn, who is a Registered Play Therapist in Florida. Jackie has made the transition from being solely a private practice practitioner to consulting. Jackie has unique skills and experiences with which she can connect and help people. Join me for the conversation with Jackie!
Jackie discusses the following about consulting:
- From Jackie’s personal experiences, she has first-hand knowledge of how valuable consultants are, and how she can help others through this medium.
- Jackie has unique skills to offer, specifically to parents and educators.
- Jackie had training under several good consultants in her EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy) and knew it was a valuable service.
- Jackie had served in the military, worked in the space industry, been a teacher, and school counselor, but she wanted MORE connection with students.
- She branched into consulting work to reach wider audiences and help them in different ways, primarily focusing on parenting issues.
- Jackie cautions about having CLEAR boundaries between the roles of private practitioner and consultant; they are TWO separate businesses.
- As far as setting consulting fees, Jackie looked at others in the field and asked herself two questions:
- What would I feel comfortable paying?
- What do I feel that my services are worth?
- Jackie’s long-term hopes include expanding into e-courses as a way to connect with even more people, along with living in NYC one day!
- Jackie explains the value of a visionary road map for your future; her family joins in, too!
- Jackie launched her podcast just six weeks ago and has already had 3200 downloads!
- Her podcast has allowed her to meet people from all over, even people she had admired from afar!
Jackie has an authenticity that draws people in and fosters trust. It’s obvious that she is passionate about both the private practitioner and consulting roles that she fulfills. She has much wisdom to share about this topic and more. Check out the resources below!
